Norfolk Food Awards Success
Produced In Norfolk has been praised for engagement with customers and
a real connection with the land and environment, as we were announced
winners of “Best Farmers’ Market” category in the EDP Norfolk Food Awards
2009
Dan Downs, Agricultural Business Manager for British Sugar who sponsored the award said
“A good farmers market is about more than just selling excellent produce; it’s about atmosphere and a warm welcome as well”
The award citation included our wide range of products with judges looking for the market which went the extra mile to offer something a little different. The special events at the Produced In Norfolk Farmers Market continue to be popular with over 200 people attending our Norfolk Pickle and Preserves Day last month, with whole families learning how to preserve bumper crops of garden produce.
October’s market will see the return of the Alpacas and the Norfolk Pie Challenge, a special turkey tasting is planned for November with Norfolk Christmas trees on sale at December’s Market. Thank you to all of you who continue to shop at the market; held at Wroxham Barns, it is really helping small rural producers and protecting rural jobs. Market dates are October 10th, November 14th and December 12th.
Catherine Temple, Happy Hogs and Norfolk Farmhouse Ice Cream were all winners at the awards in other categories, with Peter Dickie being a runner up.
