* Or are you a food producer or retailer who’d like to increase awareness and understanding of local food?
Rachel Sutton, Mapping Local Food Webs East of England Regional Coordinator, would like to invite you to attend the initial meeting of the Mapping Local Food Webs project in Norwich.
Wednesday 10 June, 7-9pm
The Greenhouse, 42-46 Bethel Street,
Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1NR
Mapping Local Food Webs is a unique project aiming to engage the skills and knowledge of local volunteers to explore the economic, social and environmental benefits of local food networks, from producer through to consumer.
This research will take place in up to 24 locations across the country, one of which will be Norwich.
Through the project we aim to achieve a better understanding of some of the challenges facing local food networks, build links within community between inhabitants, shopkeepers, farmers and policy makers, and create opportunities to influence local, regional and national policy and planning decisions.
The project will rely on the support and knowledge of local volunteers who will form a Local Research Team. This team will then go out into their community, meeting with shoppers, retailers, farmers and other producers to gather the information needed to map these networks. Please come along and find out more about the project and how you can get involved.
The meeting on 10th of June will include speakers who will present views of their experience of working in the local food chain.
The evening will provide an opportunity to:
* find out more about the project
* explore how the findings from the project could be used to create and feed into local plans, projects and actions to support food networks in and around Norwich
* join a team of local volunteers in helping to steer the project and carry out the research.
Refreshments will be available.
Mapping Local Food Webs is part of a larger programme called Making Local Food Work
