Saving our Norfolk Bacon
As Jamie Oliver is due to appear on our screens this week championing British pork production a South Norfolk pig farmer has announced he is opening his farm to visitors so that the public can see his happy pigs.
Stephen Wright, who produces top quality pork is developing farm trails around his farm shop at Hempnall and hopes this will bring consumers closer to understanding the high standards of UK pork production
“The trails will be opening at Easter and visitors will be able to see all the stock on the farm, including our pigs. They can feed the ducks and even see their next Christmas dinner if they wish”
“It’s very important consumers understand the value of supporting genuine Norfolk pig farmers” explains Jane Miller Director of Produced In Norfolk. “The UK is far ahead of the rest of the world with regards to animal welfare but are facing competition from imported products which are often sold under a British label, when they have been reared elsewhere ”
JAMIE SAVES OUR BACON will be broadcast at 21:00 Thursday 29 January, Channel 4,
