September Tastes
Whiting caught off the Norfolk coast is reported to be in abundant supply this month and mackerel caught off the North Norfolk coast are still good value; try them soused and served with some of Jim Marshalls chutneys. From her farm in North Norfolk Nina Plumbe has the last of the seasons plums and sells over the gate while Norfolk grown Strawberries are still a delicious taste of a long hot summer we didn’t have and are available from the Golden Triangle Farmers Market. Farm Shops have a great range of vegetables this month including runner and french beans and sweet corn which is always best eaten the day it is picked for extra sweetness and a real juicy texture.
