Gallery Opening to help local Charity

Artists Keith and Debbie Osborn are staging a Midsummer Event to mark the official opening of Hillside Gallery & Studios – and to support Norfolk based charity Break on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June.

The couple opened the art gallery and studios near Fakenham in late 2007 and decided to officially celebrate their new venture. Visitors can pop in any time over the Midsummer weekend of June 21 and 22 between 10am and 6pm to view work and enjoy refreshments. A percentage of takings will go to Break, a Sheringham-based charity that helps children, adults and families in need. There will also be a draw to win prizes worth a total of £50 from Hillside Gallery – proceeds to Break.

Debbie and Keith each have their own studio where visitors can see work in progress, plus a separate exhibition space. Debbie paints, makes jewellery from locally found shells and stones, and creates textiles, greeting cards, accessories and soft furnishings. Debbie is also a designer of womenswear and a selection of this work will be available for purchase.

Keith is a photographer, offering creative portraits and contemporary fine art images. He has a particular interest in project based fine art photography, producing contemplative images which get to the heart of his subject. A selection of these and some of his evocative North Norfolk landscapes will be for sale and Keith will be available to take portrait commissions during the event.

Keith said: “Debbie and I feel blessed to be living our lives doing what we both love best. We have had an enormous amount of support from the local community and we wanted to give something back.”

They have chosen Break as their designated charity. It offers respite care, holidays and short breaks for people with learning difficulties, homes for children and young adults and support for adults with learning difficulties and mental health problems.

Keith added: “Break does a fantastic job and we wanted to help in some way. We hope lots of people will come along during the Midsummer Event to see what we do and to support Break. The gallery is very friendly and welcoming and a great place to find a special gift, a creative piece of artwork or something as simple as a beautiful handmade card.”

Hillside Gallery is easy to find: Turn off the A1065 south of Hempton at the sign for Pudding Norton and the gallery is immediately on the right.
