Programme of events at the Food and Ale Fringe

The first Norwich Food and Ale Fringe event, which is taking place on Sunday October 14 between 10 am-7pm at Earlham shops in the Golden Triangle area of Norwich  is a celebration of local food, ale, cider and Perry all from producers who are within a fifty-mile radius of Norwich. FAAF is being organised by The Green Grocers and supported by Produced in Norfolk.

Our aim is to introduce you to the delicious produce, which is available on your doorstep, which is high in taste, low in food miles and great for the local economy. We know many of our visitors have already been introduced to the delights of local food as you shop at The Golden Triangle Farmers’ Market but for those of you who have not, your taste buds are in for a treat.

Timetable of Events

As well as being able to taste, buy and learn how their produce is reared and made from the producers who will be selling their wares you will be able to learn how to use the local produce in your cooking from great local chefs including the multi award winning Vanessa Scott.  Vanessa is the Chef proprietor together with her husband Les of the fabulous eco friendly boutique hotel, Stratton's, which is in the lovely Georgian Market Town of Swaffham, Norfolk. For the ale lovers amongst you speakers will include Teddy Maufe the Barley Guru, grower of  Branthill Farm near Wells-Next- the- Sea who also owns the wonderful Real Ale Shop will be talking about Barley its place in Norfolk’s history and the beer that is brewed by local producers using his barley. This talk will include guided tasting.
In “A Brewers Tale” Brendan Moore who runs the award winning Iceni Brewery will explore the sights and smells of making award winning beer and Norfolk Lager.

Norfolk producers will be talking about making sausages from rare breeds and making Norfolk cheese by hand. You will have the chance to purchase a special brew of Fringe Beer. special Food and Ale fringe pickle and pick up mouth watering Food and Ale Fringe recipes full of local flavour.
