Produced in Norfolk

Produced In Norfolk (PIN) is a Social Enterprise founded in 2005 to promote and support local producers that are genuinely making their products within the county of Norfolk.

As a producer’s co-operative of over 120 members, PIN is the only organisation in the country to be led by producers, for producers, with the aim of promoting the distinctiveness of the local area in which it operates. PIN’s overall aim is to revitalize the rural economy, through a community development model that is led by members of rural communities rather than imposed upon them.

The Green Grocers

Since The Green Grocers organic and local supermarket opened in 2004 it has been a great favourite with discerning customers in Norwich and Norfolk. It has been voted as Norfolk’s most conscientious shop by the Eastern Daily Press and by The Guardian Food Guide as one of the best places in East Anglia to buy organic and local produce. For 2007 it is a finalist in the EDP Food Awards for the Best of Norfolk Category.

This February they started The Golden Triangle Farmers’ Market, which is rather unusual because they invited their shop suppliers to trade outside their shop. Since this point they have asked PIN to visit all members of the market to ensure they are genuinely producing locally and meeting PIN’s high standards of traceability.

The producers have also enjoyed the experience and noticed a knock on effect of sales of their produce in the shop.

The Farmer’s market, accredited by PIN, has won the 2007 EDP food award for Best Farmers Market in Norfolk.
