About Us
Produced in Norfolk is a social enterprise working to protect rural skills and jobs thereby sustaining rural communities. The company, which is a co-operative, was formed in 2005 with support from Defra and is now financially self sustaining.
We actively promote products
that are genuinely made in the County and work to open new markets for
Norfolk businesses locally, nationally and abroad. We link consumers
to the skilled local people who are our members and research markets
to gain a better understanding of consumers needs and respond appropriately.
Opportunities to network across the County and in more local groups
encourage the development of local supply chains and provide business
support. We facilitate training across a wide spectrum, often at no
or little cost to participants and offer help and advice on marketing
and increasing sales, together with regular members newsletters
Membership
Membership is open to producers who make food, gift and craft products
in Norfolk with some substantive creative input. Accredited members
pay an annual subscription, with reduced rates for young entrepreneurs
and new businesses. Associate membership is available to businesses
or individuals who support and promote our aims and objectives.
Sustainable communities; our aims
We estimate our work safeguards over 1000 rural jobs in the County,
creates more sustainable tourism and leads to a more sustainable rural
economy for communities in Norfolk.
Our aims are to promote the distinctiveness and quality of products
made in Norfolk in order to encourage local sourcing and to add value
to sustainable tourism by facilitating networks, strengthening links
between businesses, forming partnerships and marketing the brand. We
also aim to encourage entrepreneurs and start-up businesses through
sharing business support, research, networking and the provision of
opportunities for the transfer of knowledge and expertise.
We encourage environmental sustainability through producer awards which
reward innovation and commitment to sound practice that others can replicate
Over £200,000 has been contributed to the project since its launch,
by Norfolk businesses and Norfolk people working as volunteers and the
majority of products and services we use in the company are sourced
from within Norfolk.
Enquiries welcome
We welcome enquiries from community groups, social enterprises and Norfolk
businesses that share our aims to promote genuine Norfolk products and
celebrate the work of skilled local people.
